May 1st 2009
We started towards our good old Pondy on our lovely Yamaha’s.
It was around 3 when we started and we got the beautiful East coast road in another half an hour.
It’s May and its Chennai hence Mr. Sun was on his festival mood,
Still we rode and we had our flying Yamaha’s and the hot breeze on our backs.
The ECR is always a beauty with blue Bay of Bengal at the sides. It‘s a drive with a spectacular scenic beauty with beaches and fishermen hamlets.
We did not race but we rode, we had enough time to kill and what else can be compared to be on your bike on a beautiful highway.
It is just a normal 150 km drive. But the beauty of these roads is every time you come they make you fresh in the scotching sun. We stopped once for every 50 km and we find a surprise beauty on the same road. This time we found a beautiful passage of water bisecting the road and a village nearby.
It was a treat to watch the people cross the water to get their places. And I saw my grandma’s home for a second.
We reached around 7 in the evening and got an ok beach house, as most of the good ones were full.
It was a hut, an ok stay. But a bottle of beer would make you sleep with no roof needed.
May 2nd 2009
5.30 Early in the morning. Pondy beach.
The beauty of few fisher men in the blue waters,
The sun slowly setting up for his festival mood, its heaven.
It’s no wonder people say train, elephants and sea are the wonders, that you don’t get bored on seeing them daily.
We had a good bath, a few cyber shots and then a sun bath. Doesn’t it say aloud worth living?
We were back to the so called hut and let our thoughts flow by,
We started back to the mechanical world - the metro Chennai by 3 noon and we were there by 7 in first floor of kodambakkam.
A great week end ends.

A coffee county Drive…
A journey of many to follow…
This was in January and these words are from my dairy. Let me share my ride with you.
Jan 24 2009,
Chikmagalur (Coffee County) is the destination point and Bangalore is the starting point.
We reached Bangalore from Chennai in the early morning and have planned to start as early as possible.
But our plans are only well scripted in the paper and added to that we had a big stoppage with a ten stitch accident to my roommate.
It was 11 in the morning now. So the places were getting changed as he was getting treated in the hospital. We even thought of dropping it…..
There he came hopping and I swore he said this …” we are already late. Shall we start?”
Oh boy, I still remember, both his legs wrapped with band aids and the total counts of stitches were close to 10 or 15… but still…
It’s decided that he and his stitches will come along in a four wheeled machine. (Added advantage, dump the entire luggage’s. It makes a real free ride :-)
There we start. The Easy Riders with 3 lovely two wheeled birds and a four wheeled machine.
It was close to 3 when we were out of Bangalore. We stopped in shell for fuel…
We could see the smiling roads with opened arms. Here we are my love…….
We rode, we raced, we stopped and we rode again.
As the beauty of the evening unfolded, the source of the day was giving way for the night to come,
So it’s sun set on the highway!!!!!
It’s again a new place and a new drive with the same old friend -highway.
We reached the country roads and the country side is heaven in disguise, turn around you see nothing more than green.
Deserted roads, though single lane hardly a vehicle passed by. Trust me we even tried with no lights at nights.
We reached around 9. It’s close to 250 km by now. Far away from the crowded and the polluted world.
The booked rooms of vasanth vihar were waiting for us to fill in. The stay was good.
It is all ways good to give your soul and body a deep rest after a lengthy ride.
It was agreed that 4 in the morning is the time to start the next new day.
Jan 25 2009,
As always, a delayed start by 7.30 but with a small change, here am being the culprit.
And our destination is Mullangiri hills. Mullangiri is 22 km’s towards the north of the Chikmagalur town. As we climb, Baba Budangiri range took us into it with its contrasting green ranges.
The black roads ended, we could see a road but it has changed its color to brown and was not even. We are always against colour discriminations. So we climbed and it was a real treat. On the way we reached a small temple called Datta Peetha.
We moved from one beauty to another and it is called Kemmangundi, best known for its vast view to the valley standing amidst the beautiful and lush green gardens and long rows of flowers.
An Old-rope way walks through the Giri Estate, the route to scan the vast miles of the valley.
Oh dear, Valleys. My linguistic skill always drop’s short.
So better have a look at side.
It’s already end of noon now. So we start back enjoying the Coffee County.
And we reach giving break to a well defined day.
Jan 26 2009,
Destination unknown. ..
We decide to pick a direction and go to catch some places as you don’t fall short of places here.
We reached Sitalayyanagiri peaks. It’s a place not to miss. The range of hills surrounding it and of course beauty is the free parcel you get along with it.
We start back by noon to the IT hub of India.
Now we did not ride we raced. We decided that from Hassan we will catch the Mysore highway and via reach Bangalore which was to be dropped later.
We stopped in every 50 or say 60 km. As we race, I could see the towns and villages start and end.
We stopped for a lunch on the highway. The food was good but I forgot the name of the hotel, am sorry for that.
Finally we were back to Bangalore by 9 pm.
